Ohio House Democratic Caucus 2012 Political Director
The Ohio House Democratic Caucus is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual for the position of Political Director for the 2012 campaign cycle.
The Political Director is responsible for writing and executing the 2012 campaign plan, setting and managing the budget, and hiring and managing campaign staff. The Political Director must engage in ongoing communication with state legislators and manage day-to-day political operations of the Caucus.
Duties include candidate recruitment, media relations, identifying and coordinating with campaign consultants, training candidates and campaign staff, assisting with drafting and execution of candidate campaign plans, overseeing political fundraising and providing strategic guidance to campaigns. The Political Director works closely with House leadership and its allies in formulating and executing the caucus plan and budget for 2012.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, strategic, and able to work with many kinds of people and personalities; possesses strong writing and organizational skills; is able to perform in a deadline-driven environment; and exhibits very strong attention to detail.
This position requires a strong background in political, communications, field, and/or fundraising, and at least one cycle of campaign management experience. Experience in Ohio is a plus.

Field Organizer:
Hiring organizers across the state; Field staff will be based in their region. Salary is commensurate with experience. Generous benefits provided.
Job duties include:
Recruiting volunteer neighborhood organizers; building relationships with local leaders and activists.
Meeting aggressive volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals.
Running meetings, trainings, canvasses, phonebanks and various kinds of rapid response and other field efforts to support 2010 ticket.
Working with the Regional Field Director to ensure that the ODP and the Ohio Coordinated Campaign to ensure goals are being met and communicating and overcoming obstacles.
Some electoral, community or union organizing experience. Passionate about winning in 2010.
Ability to communicate effectively, work well with others, work well under pressure, be detail and goal oriented.
Strong interpersonal skills; Diplomatic & professional approach to problem solving – ability to think outside the box.
Ideal candidates will have excellent time management & organizational skills.

Ohio Democratic Party Tracker
Tracker will be responsible for the following:
- Daily tracking of opposition’s campaign schedules and attending campaign events as needed;
- Monitor and record all radio, television and web-based media appearances by opponent;
- Organize and maintain files containing audio and/or video footage/transcripts of opponent;
- Works with the Research Director and other members of the department to fulfill research needs and goals.

- Applicant must be a strong writer and have effective communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with different campaigns;

Ohio Democratic Party Latino Outreach Director
The Ohio Democratic Party has an immediate opening for a Latino Outreach Director. We are seeking an energetic, experienced organizer who can educate, empower and organize Latino groups, voters and community leaders in order to increase their leadership within Democratic politics, and work with the Ohio Democratic Party to elect Democratic candidates.
Fundraising will be a key part of this position as the caucus develops in strength and size. Responsibilities will include direct solicitation, private small dollar fundraisers, and large events.
This position is housed within the Political Department at the ODP and reports directly to the Political Director. This position will manage all organizing activities in association with the Latino community, and the Political Department.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a proactive, innovative, self-motivated organizer, problem solver and team leader who takes initiative and works independently to create desired results in a fast-paced environment;
- Grassroots organizing experience, with an emphasis on mobilizing and supporting members and volunteers;
- Willingness to solicit money to support the Caucus and Party and some experience organizing or staffing small dollar fundraising events;
- A strong commitment to Democratic ideals and issues important to the Latino Community;
- Excellent verbal, writing and analytical skills – the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere;
- Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (administrative experience beyond minimum required);
- Spanish Speaking skills highly preferred;
- Travel and weekend hours required.
